The sixteen petaled Vishuddha (‘purified”) Chakra is located in the areas of the throat and extends backward to the spinal regions of the neck. This is the fifth chakra. It is associated with the color blue. The thyroid and parathyroid are the glands that are attached to this energy vortex. The chakra is most often referred to as the throat chakra. Symbolically, this chakra is represented by the church of Sardis and is again represented by the Souls of the Perfect Slain in the Book of the Revelation as interpreted by Edgar Cayce’s source. The element is that of ether. The musical note is G. The sacrament is confession.

Since this chakra connects the heart to the last two spiritual centers, the voice is often used to open and vibrate these upper chakras into harmony and balance. The “NG” ending words excite this energy center and tune the chakras as the sounds are held. This continuous chanting of this tone or other tones may lead to ecstatic states of awareness and/or bliss as the hypothalamus is activated through the vocal cords. The words OM or AUM or ONG (the God sounds) are highly effective in purifying the energies of the body and bringing balance to the mind and the body. The word HANG can also be used to tone the body. This word is held until the body is almost out of breath. The chanter then takes another breath and holds the breath as long as possible before squeezing it into the throat before exhaling. This will help heighten the feeling of awareness in the body.

Since the throat/thyroid/hypothalamus area is the central point of this chakra, the spoken word becomes a most important physical manifestation of this energy vortex. It is here that we choose or not choose to make our will one with that of the divine will. It is here that thought and action need be in agreement. Decisions are made reflecting our conscious and unconscious understandings. It is when this chakra is attuned through discipline to the divine will that we choose “to serve the house of the Lord. “ When this chakra is out of balance or we consciously decide not to follow a higher ideal, it is then that the spoken word just become aimless words with no intentionality toward honesty, integrity, and reverence. Gossiping, lying, telling people what they want to hear not what we really intend to do become a part of our behaviors. The resulting outcome is that of schizophrenia or a splitting of the mind, where our words are in direct conflict to that which we do to thus creating a confusion in our thought systems. A nervous energy ensues as the mind goes from one thought to another looking for the true reality. A physical fidgeting and restlessness may be exhibited or feelings of extreme fatigue. There may be even bouts of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. Carolyn Myss states in her book Anatomy of the Spirit that illness has a connection to the fifth chakra because free will and/or choice is involved in every detail of our lives.

The power that we inherit through the attuning of the fifth chakra is that of faith; faith in others, faith in ourselves, and faith that we are learning to let go of our lives and giving it to the greater Concern. When we have doubts, it is because we have used the knowledge that we have unwisely. When we give our lives over to God and learn to surrender, the God-force in us becomes free to create in an new, purer, more dynamic way. Our faith in God and ourselves awakens the power of creation. Not knowing, but knowing allows the night to flow into the day; that which is unseen to become that what is seen. A very powerful expression comes into play when we relax into the art of living, when the lower physical energy centers become an act of sacred, conscious living and our lives are built on trusting that the world and the world around us, us included, are one big act of love. When we can consciously live this reality every second in our lives, then enlightenment as we know it is just around the corner.

The fifth chakra is the chakra of spiritual rebirth. It is the lord of the lower physical senses and behaviors. Those that aspire to the spiritual life, a life of truth and simplicity, have an awakened fifth chakra illumined with true spiritual knowledge. The fifth chakra person comprehends non-verbal messages and dreams for all energy has been redefined for them. They live gracefully and their thoughts are of a higher nature. They tend to sleep four to six hours and are not easily distracted. They find the sciences of mantras and harmonic sound frequencies and absorb the mind allowing the energy to move upward to the last two chakras bringing the next lessons and opening the last gates to heaven on earth. They are so attuned to sound that they can hear the tone of the heart through the voice of an individual. The fifth chakra stands as the door keeper to higher knowledge and the “unknown understandings of an awakened heart.” These are your writers, poets, and musicians. These are the ones who have listened for the call and responded.

Sit comfortably with the spine as straight as possible. Surround you body with a white light of protection. Begin by taking several deep breaths feeling the expansion of the lungs as they massage the internal organs paying particular attention to the pressure along the throat. Specifically, we are wanting the lungs to fan the aerie energy of the throat chakra as we expand and retract the breathing organ. Begin to run your awareness up and down the spine keeping the breathe deep as you go. Stay aware of the throat center. Now locate the area just above the “Adams apple.” Feel and imagine the color blue warming and vibrating this area. Extend your consciousness straight back to the area along the spine. Become sensitive to this area of the spine. Chant the long U sound (prounced oooh) , in the key of G, and see if you can feel the energy becoming stimulated here or near here. After you find this area (it may take a while), envision a sixteen-petaled wheel lying flat along the spine. Radiate a blue color throughout this wheel (chakra). Next spin this wheel clockwise for a minute then counter-clockwise for another. Pay attention to any bursts of energy or feelings of calmness or uneasiness. We are attempting to balance this chakra by perceiving any negative feeling attached to our spinning of the chakra. When you have the throat chakra harmonized spend the next 15 to 20 minutes in silence with your awareness in this chakra.

So, when you were little your big brother: a) put a spider in your bed and didn’t tell you until you’d slept with it all night; b) teased you about getting on an airplane saying it was going to crash; c) made you pick apples for grandma knowing that a robin was nesting in the tree and would attack you; d) made fun of you for being so dumb, having to wear glasses, picking your nose, being mommy’s favorite; or e) make you climb onto the roof from the top of a very tall ladder and then took the ladder and ran away...some would call this sibling rivalry while others would call it the beginning of a phobia that has controlled your life since that time. Often things that happened in childhood create an underlying theme or belief that has a ripple effect reverberating in all facets of your adult life. Most of us have tried to repress, deny, hide or compensate for these old beliefs, but they continue to have a bearing on how we operate (even if we refuse to acknowledge this fact).

Everyone knows that stress is the leading cause of our physical, emotional, and even spiritual problems. Its impact on our society is well documented with an overwhelming amount of research. Robert Smith teaches how the mind and body connection relates to the way we learn and experience life: stress or no stress. You will understand how stress works and Robert gives you the tools to take control of your life. What you learn is empowering, liberating, and simple.

Try this to experience and see for yourself the mind/body connection. Recall an event in your life that you felt wonderful....when you recall it, you will notice there is an image in your mind, and while focusing on the image you will notice the good feelings begin to grow. If you wanted the feelings to become stronger you would just bring it closer, brighten up, adding more color and double the physical feelings, since it is your mind. If you begin to understand how it all works you can really enjoy life to its fullest. Robert’s course will give you some very powerful tools to feel good and to be truly happy.

A participant at a recent Wichita course, Debbie, says “I can honestly say Robert kept my attention the entire weekend and he is an excellent presenter. I loved all the stories and examples. This weekend has changed my life.” The greates thing about what he teaches is it’s simple, fast and very effective. He has successes with all sorts of physical pains, like headaches, back pains, asthma, and emotional aspects like panic attacks, fears, phobias, past traumas, and so much more. Robert says, “When you release the stress from the past you gain personal power and then you can truly design your future while feeling good for no reason. Since we have been feeling bad for no reason, we might as well do it the other way and feel good.”

Robert has fashioned an incredibly quick and easy way of releasing unwanted thoughts and feelings. Just as quickly, you learn to replace them with those that enable you to better your life and your lifestyle. He will demonstrate and teach you how to better your life and your lifestyle. He will demonstrate and teach you how to have at your immediate disposal his New Freedom Technique. through extensive self-directed study and persistent practice, revision, refinement and condensation, Robert has truly created an easy and effective way to eliminate stress. This includes grief, trauma, painful memories, relationship challenges, persistent pain, phobias, fears, stress related disorders, and more! Anyone can change his or her life “from the inside out!” It works great with children and even pets!

Robert will be in Wichita July 27th and 28th teaching his class “A Course for Practical Miracles, Self Empowerment: Improving Your Life from the Inside Out.” Registration is $150 including a workbook that will help keep the technique fresh in your mind. You can register or ask questions by calling Evelyn Logan at (316) 264-7133. Robert is also available for personal consultations by calling Sheryl Person at (316)943-1726. Check out his website: There are brochures available at white dove and Nature’s Mercantile. There are two local practitioners of the NEW FREEDOM TECHNIQUE - Evelyn Logan , at the above number, and Donna Carlson (316)688-1408.

Pat Kenyon is owner of Nature’s Mercantile. Part of the continuing education budget of Nature’s Mercantile has been used to send all willing employees to Robert’s class. The results have been amazing on a personal level, however the synergy that has been created within the working environment of the store has defied description in a very positive way. It is as if a fantastic, positive energy is present at all times.

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of corn chips and a six pack of root beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” But before his mother could respond, he added, “You know what? She’s got the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, “Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?” She replied, “I ate corn chips in the park with God.” However, before her son responded, she added, “You know, he’s much younger than I expected.

”Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or lifetime. Embrace all equally! Have lunch with God.....bring chips...
